MILITARY MUNITIONS RESPONSE PROGRAM (MMRP)

MMRP page

RFI’s Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) staff is ready to provide the technical expertise necessary for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) remediation and other projects involving hazardous materials.

RFI searches for and hires the best of the best among Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) personnel. Collectively, RFI’s EOD/UXO techs have worked on more than 51 MMRP projects at Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps projects and Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) nationwide, on land and sea. Many RFI employees are former military EOD techs experienced in handling chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons (CBRN) who also have Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Hazwoper) and other OSHA certifications.

RFI encourages cross-training EOD/UXO personnel in heavy equipment and robotics and may offer specific training opportunities in the near future.

RFI’s munitions response services and activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Munitions response actions addressing explosive safety, environmental, and health hazards from releases of unexploded ordnance (UXO), discarded military munitions (DDM), and munitions constituents (MC) on active and inactive military installations and ranges
  • Hazard Analysis, Remedial Investigations (RIs), Feasibility Studies (FSs), Engineering Evaluation/Cost Assessments (EE/CAs), and Explosives Safety Submissions (ESSs)
  • Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) location, avoidance, construction support, and total management
  • Segregation of Munitions Debris (MD) and Range Related Debris (RRD) from soils
  • Firing range management and sustainment
  • Reclamation of Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) installations
  • Underwater UXO and environmental remediation operations
  • Robotic vegetation clearance operations associated with UXO and environmental remediation
  • Robotic excavation and discrimination of UXO laden soils and materials, capping over suspected UXO areas
  • Classroom instructors at UXO Schools
